Mains Extension Board or Power Strip even called Surge Protector Box ... needs to have a Good earth connection. These boards have to be checked, repaired and cleaned every year. Corrosion on the Earth socket or plug or a broken internal earth connection can damage your Equipment, Computer or Appliance.
Keep a couple of mains neon testers around. It is also important to check if the tester is working before you go troubleshooting. The tester is made of a Neon Lamp and a Large Value resistor. Buy a good quality tester and do a visual inspection before use.
Before plugging in mains powered equipment or accessories to your computer or laptop, that includes things like the monitor and charger...... ...check with a Mains Neon Tester the external metal part of the connector. if neon glows you have a earthing issue.
Electric flyswatter, Electric Insect Killer or Mosquito bat are High Voltage Generators. They damage electronic gadgets and appliances like TV, Computer, Tablets, Laptops and any Gizmo.
Do not Wave it near children, eyes, electronics and pets. These do more harm than good. Use some insect repellents or aromatics. These bats come cheap from china and have become popular. Avoid using them..
